Her View

Birmingham - Caywood's perspective

Birmingham: only an hour away from my college town. Birmingham wasn't originally a city I really thought to consider when looking where to move. But there's too much opportunity there not to! And it's very impressive how much the city is growing. In particular, I am intrigued by the Homewood of area of Birmingham. Feliks and I spent a couple of days here to visit with Alabama Media Group and check out some neighborhoods in Homewood.

We had some delicious food while here - ate dinner at Michael's Steak House, then Chuy's the next night at the Summit. We drove around four or five neighborhoods in Homewood and I was very pleasantly surprised to see a lot of fenced in back yards. Friday afternoon we spent at AMG, touring and chatting with a few people in the arena of digital marketing and advertising. A fantastic day, and a fantastic visit.

I was very happy about our visit to Birmingham, and can safely say it's in my top 4 places to move to because of the opportunity there.

His View

Birmingham - Feliks' perspective

I've only heard about Birmingham from Caywood and the only time I've been there before is when we met some of her friends at Dreamland BBQ. Pretty good barbeque. I knew a little about the town from research I had to do for work a while back so I was excited to spend more time in the city.

Our first night was pretty layed back, we had dinner with Natalie at Michael's Steak House, great steak, and called it an early night. The next day we drove around some neighborhoods to get a better look at the area. Typical suburbs, there were really nice neighborhoods and some not as nice. I did like that there were random mini strip malls all over the place. However, I did not see too many bike lanes which I was expecting. We spent the afternoon at the Alabama Media Group office touring their facility. Met lots of great people and got a much better understanding of what they were about. Great company.

While we didn't do any touristy stuff in Birmingham, it was good to see the outer rim of the city. I knew it would be a good visit and it didn't disappoint.
